PLANNING PERIOD LITERACY™ LAB
The Planning Period Literacy™ Lab is the professional learning hub of Sustainable Teaching Solutions (STS) for schools and districts. We help school leaders strengthen the conditions around planning time and equip teachers with practical skills to use that time effectively.
Through leadership training, teacher professional learning, campus diagnostics, and ongoing support, the Lab addresses both school practices and daily teacher workflows. Our work supports more sustainable workdays, stronger instructional readiness, and teacher retention.
OUR SERVICES
Planning Period Literacy™
Equip teachers with practical planning-period skills through this interactive, 90-minute virtual professional learning session. Grounded in Planning Period Literacy™ and the Plan Your Planning Period™ Method, the session teaches strategies for protecting time, energy, and attention, setting priorities, and structuring focused work. Teachers leave with routines to complete priority work within the school day and reduce work taken home.
Campus Diagnostic
Understand what teachers experience during their planning periods. The Campus Diagnostic includes a 30-minute planning call, anonymous staff survey, analysis, campus findings report, and debrief call to identify priorities and next steps. The $250 fee covers the complete service and will be credited toward a subsequent professional development or support service booked with Sustainable Teaching Solutions.
Upgrade the Default™
Examine the everyday decisions that shape teacher workload. Upgrade the Default™ helps school leaders identify how routine responses to coverage, meetings, communication, and competing demands interrupt planning time and push work beyond the school day. Leaders explore practical alternatives through the question, “Who is carrying the cost of our current default?” Participants leave with specific changes to strengthen planning-time conditions and support teacher sustainability.
